One of the perks of studying in a globally-oriented school is that you get to meet friends of various nationalities. While pursuing her postgraduate studies, Vanessa was thankful to have met many Indonesian friends. She shared, ‘Back in Vietnam, you will only get to meet friends of another race and nationality in an international setting.’

Vanessa admits that getting to know other cultures and fostering this understanding helps her to communicate better with colleagues and students of diverse backgrounds.

When faced with challenges in school such as the initial language barrier that caused her grades to plummet in her first year of undergraduate studies, Vanessa continues to study hard to master English with the support of her sister who is already a citizen here. She felt that she would not have successfully obtained her Masters on her own accord if not for her dedicated lecturers.

While completing her thesis, she received a lot of help from a lecturer who simplified concepts to keep her on track. Vanessa hopes to encourage other students to follow their dreams and not give up. If she can do it, they can do it too.
