UK97 MSc Industrial Mathematics University of Huddersfield
Our Masters course in Industrial Mathematics is designed to meet the requirements of the modern knowledge economy for employees with both the mathematical skills needed for modelling of industrial problems and processes, and the communication and teamwork skills needed to be able to apply these skills as part of a cross-functional or interdisciplinary team.
In addition to acquiring deep knowledge of mathematical tools and techniques needed to model industrial systems, we aim to develop the communication skills needed to understand the requirements of the problem owner and work with them to formulate a description true to the actual need and amenable to mathematical analysis. After the analysis has been carried you’ll also have the skills needed to communicate results in the context of the original problem, e.g. as actionable recommendations.
On completion of this course you will be able to work as mathematicians and mathematical modellers in industry, either working independently or embedded in cross functional teams. This course will also allow you to progress into academic research via a PhD qualification.
A mathematics qualification opens up a broad range of careers. Just some but not limited to, of the sectors employing mathematicians are Advertising and Marketing, Finance and Banking, Medicine and Health and IT and Computers.
* Percentage of our postgraduate students go on to work and/or further study within fifteen months of graduating (HESA Graduate Outcomes 2017/18, UK domiciled graduates).
