This course is specifically aimed at International students, supporting those wishing to gain practical work based experiential learning. Together with studying your chosen course we are offering an additional 6-month placement opportunity, making the course 18 months in length. This allows students to put into practice the skills and techniques developed throughout the Master’s degree within a UK environment after completing the 12 month taught programme.
In this career-focused course you will explore and apply theories of behavioural decision-making science to various workplace and business contexts. This will enable you to develop skills in research, communication and critical analysis. The course will provide you with an advanced knowledge and training in the research methods, design and statistical analysis used in Behavioural Economics and Decision Science research.
The course will introduce you to applications of judgement and decision-making research in areas such as consumer behaviour, politics, sports, economics and health, and will provide you with a firm basis in both the theory and practice of cognitive science and decision-making.
You will be introduced to a variety of decision-making methods and techniques, and also be trained to communicate the results of decision analysis. The central emphasis of the course, however, is on developing your ability to apply appropriate advanced research techniques. In doing so, the course provides an excellent preparation for occupations involving data analysis and empirical research in the financial sector, private organisations, government, research institutes and academia.
Placements
This course offers you the chance to undertake a 6 month placement at the end of the taught element. A placement can help you build on the knowledge and skills developed on the course.
The placement is a valuable tool that can enhance your employability and help you to develop as an individual. It is acknowledged that graduates with work experience are generally much more attractive to employers.
Our Employability and Placements Office are available to support you in finding placement opportunities and can provide advice in areas such as interview skills and preparing CVs and covering letters.
