This unique specialist course provides you with an opportunity to put theory into practice through undertaking work experience within a public health arena. The course was designed in response to the demands presented by international and UK government policy and practice, public health and health promotion. Placements
Upon successful completion of the theory modules you will have an opportunity undertake work experience within a public health arena. The advanced practice work placement module enables you to develop discipline specific knowledge and skills through learning opportunities within a public health setting.
It will provide you with an opportunity to apply your insights of public health theory, as well as allowing you to apply your public health knowledge and skills in a real-work setting under the guidance of a work-based supervisor and with the support of a university based supervisor.
A wide range of placement organisations are available. You are required to identify and organise your own placement after negotiation with the module tutor. Placement organisations must be able to offer experience to meet the learning outcomes and provide a named workplace supervisor. You will be expected to undertake a minimum of 542 hours of work based learning.
