The Business with Logistics and Supply Chain Management is a professional programme which has been developed to provide you with the workplace skills required for a career in this sector.
If you’re thinking of a career in logistics and supply chain management, it is an exciting time to study. We’ll examine how leading companies organise and manage their logistics and supply chains to ensure success. This includes topics such as planning and control of operations, managing sourcing, manufacturing and physical logistics, and looking at ways which these can be done more sustainably, as well as developing your skills in business management, leadership and decision-making. We want to make you employment-ready so you can take the next step in your career.
This course is part of the full NOVUS scheme, an innovation developed between the university and the NOVUS Trust. The Trust is an industry-led organisation that focuses on developing talent in the transport, logistics and supply chain management sectors. Being part of the scheme opens up wider opportunities for work experience and networking with professionals in the sector through access to a company mentor, as well as a guaranteed third year work placement and guaranteed graduate job if you secure a 2:1 or above. The full NOVUS scheme runs alongside the Business with Logistics and Supply Chain Management course. Placements
The course offers a one-year (48 weeks) work placement after the second year. A broad range of UK companies offer workplace experience years. For those on the NOVUS scheme, the placement year is compulsory and will be with one of the NOVUS companies.
Our Placement Office works with employers to ensure excellent work experience opportunities are available to you on placement courses as well as giving advice in areas such as interview skills and preparing CVs and covering letters.
Placements will be with companies who are committed to providing a rewarding placement experience and who will invest in your professional development. NOVUS Companies who have taken placement students in the past include Arla Foods Ltd, CEVA Logistics, Clipper Logistics, Culina/Great Bear, Cummins, Gist Ltd, Howdens, Hoyer Petrolog UK Ltd, Morrisons, Muller, Pladis, PPG Architectural Coatings EMEA, PZ Cussons, Travis Perkins, and Wincanton Plc.

There is currently a shortage of skilled professionals within logistics and supply chain management - one of the key reasons that the industry has formed the NOVUS Trust to attract new talent and why you will be in demand. Logistics courses at Huddersfield have always enjoyed exceptionally high levels of graduate employment.
The NOVUS Trust scheme offers career opportunities unparalleled in other courses - including a guaranteed offer of employment with one of the member companies. To qualify for the guarantee you will need to graduate with a 2.1 degree and achieve satisfactory references from your placement employer and your personal tutor at the University.
Previous graduates from this subject area have gone on to roles such as Network Operations Support Manager, Supply Chain Analyst, e-fulfilment Solutions Graduate and Materials Improvement Specialist in organisations including Cummins, DHL, Wincanton, Clipper Group, Morrison’s Nestle, Yusen Logistics, Heineken and Sainsbury’s.
