Children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) have the right to educational support that values and respects them as learners, and takes account of their individual requirements. Whether you want to work in special and inclusive education contexts, or progress your career in special education in a mainstream school, business or non-governmental organisation, this course could be for you.

Placements
You’ll be required to complete a minimum of 200 hours in placement across the first two years of study. We’ll work with you to find the type of placement suitable for your needs and the age group you are most interested in working with.
Your Career
Successful completion of this course will enable you to progress in special education in a range of organisations, including special and inclusive educational contexts, schools, businesses and the non-governmental sector. This course is a recognised progression route into Primary teacher training, and is suitable for those seeking to work with local, national and international charities involving children and young people.
Upon successful completion you may also consider pursuing further study, including a PGCE or other professional Master’s programmes.
