    Events Management is a fast paced and dynamic industry, no one day is the same, you’ll have opportunities to travel the world, work with interesting people and continuously challenge yourself. With us you’ll learn the skills required through practical hands-on application and the academic know how required to succeed in a competitive market.

    A good Events Manager?

    Good communication, creativity, being organised, problem solving and constantly striving for excellence are a few of the skills required, we encourage you to explore all types of events from Weddings to Conferences, Sporting events to Cultural Celebrations, Charity fundraisers to marketing campaigns. As members of the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (APBCO),the Meeting Professional Institute (MPI), the National Outdoor Events Association (NOAE) and the Association for Events Management Education (AEME), the course follows the requirements of the Industry.

    How will you learn?

    You will learn through practical application and creatively delivered lectures, workshops, seminars and group work sessions.

    • Coordinating your own event as part of assessment in each year.
    • Working with charities and external clients to create events concepts.
    • Volunteering on events throughout the year (e.g. NCRI in Liverpool, CHS in Leeds, Chester Food & Culture Festival).
    • Industry software training and creating event design concepts, operating the technology and equipment behind events.
    • Attending field trips.
    • Complete additional qualifications embedded in the modules such as Food Hygiene Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely and CVENT Certificate and have the opportunity to complete additional qualifications such as Personal Licence Holders (RFQ).
    • Future focused subjects delivered by lecturers who have worked in the industry or who are currently conducting cutting edge research in the field.

    Placements

    The course offers an optional one-year (48 weeks) work placement after the second year, in the UK or abroad.

    Previous placement providers have included Awesome Events, BSG - Mountaintop Golf and Tennis Club, Butler Search Group, Greenwich Country Club, Huddersfield & District Textile Training Ltd, McDonalds, Nidd Hall Hotel, QBC Agency, Queens Hotel, SC Businessmark Invest SRL, Team Spirit Event Management Ltd, The Arches, The Bridge Hotel and Spa, The Colchester Events Company, Wrose Carnival and XSEM.

    Our Placement Office works with national and international employers to ensure excellent work experience opportunities are available to you on placement courses as well as giving advice in areas such as interview skills and preparing CVs and covering letters.

    Your Career

    Previous graduates from this subject area have gone on to roles such as International Events Co-ordinator, Conference & Events Supervisor, Marketing Assistant, Conference & Events Executive, Account Executive, Project Co-ordinator and Project Assistant in organisations including FC Business Intelligence, Q Hotels, University of Leeds, BPP, Ye Ltd, Dallas Burston Polo Club and Vista.**
