MA Linguistics and English Studies is an interdisciplinary degree which blends topics and approaches from MA English Studies and MA Linguistics and English Language, allowing you to develop your skills and interests across intersections between linguistics, society, film, literature and television.
You’ll have a choice of units across, and be taught by academics from, both MA Linguistics and English Language and MA English Studies. You’ll be offered a flexible course of study with two pathways available, providing you with the freedom to choose a course of study that closely matches your interests.
You’ll be taught by research active staff, many of whom are internationally recognised for their academic expertise. Research specialisms that inform what you’ll be taught on this course are as diverse as multimodal language teaching, the linguistic discourse of health, and Gothic literature and TV.
Career paths for graduates include: publishing, copywriting, advertising and marketing, social research, libraries and information, public relations, international relations, teaching, lexicography, arts administration, film and television, journalism, politics and many other roles which require a critical awareness of aspects of contemporary culture and an ability to assimilate and present coherent arguments. This programme will also prepare students for further study at PhD level.
