You’ll learn to use technology to create new opportunities and to solve a wide range of problems, benefiting every aspect of society from the home to business, government and beyond. 

Our teaching is informed by our cutting-edge research, and we also reflect what’s happening now in industry. There’s a strong emphasis on programming – but don’t worry if you don’t have A Level Mathematics because the course covers what you need to know. You’ll have access to our computing labs, based on Microsoft Windows and Linux, plus a wide range of software. Our excellent central location is ideal for industrial placements, with over 40 companies situated on the Keele Science Park alone.

By following the Artificial Intelligence route through the degree programme, you will have the opportunity to discover modern approaches to Artificial Intelligence which may include computational intelligence and nature-inspired algorithms. This specialism is strongly research focused; you will explore practical application of cutting-edge techniques on real-world problems. The specialism includes study of topics such as artificial neural networks, evolutionary computation, as well as covering adaptive behaviour in natural systems from the perspective of computational neuroscience. 

You will graduate with a wide range of computing skills plus a highly developed approach to problem solving. Recent Keele graduates have gone to work for companies as diverse as Apple, BAE Systems, Barclays, Capgemini, EA Games, Experian, Microsoft and the Ministry of Defence. You’ll also have the solid grounding you’ll need to apply for postgraduate study.
