At Keele, you’ll develop a deep appreciation of human disorders and diseases from a scientific and pathology practitioner’s perspective. Your studies will integrate human physiology, biochemistry, pathology, immunology, neuroscience, and molecular and cell biology, benefiting from research-led teaching. You may be eligible to engage in a placement opportunity which may include a one year work placement or a summer’s research in the UK or abroad.

Your Biomedical Science degree from Keele will prepare you to work in high-tech hospital laboratories in the NHS or private sector, but you might also work in consultancy, research, education or management. You might work as a biomedical scientist in the haematology, clinical biochemistry, clinical immunology, microbiology or histopathology sections of pathology. Alternatively, you might branch out into patent law, medical sales or teaching, or build on your Biomedical Science degree to study for other healthcare professional careers such as medicine. Doing a placement as part of a degree will add invaluable work experience to your CV.
