Business Studies at Lincoln combines elements of all of these disciplines. It offers students the opportunity to develop the critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills needed to enter the competitive world of business.
The course takes an international perspective to help prepare students for the global nature of modern business practice, offering the opportunity to specialise in areas of particular interest and acquire workplace experience.
The University of Lincoln is proud of its approach to nurturing entrepreneurialism in its students. Lecturers and visiting practitioners provide insights into current practice and global issues, while real-life projects help challenge students to develop problem-solving skills.
As part of this course, students can choose a one-year work placement following the second year. They are expected to source their own paid placement, and tutors can provide support during the process if required. Students who successfully complete their studies with a year on work placement will receive the award title BA (Hons) Business Studies (with Work Placement). Those who do not will receive a BA (Hons) Business Studies award, or equivalent exit award.
There are no tuition fees for the work placement year, but students will need to pay for their own travel, accommodation, and general living costs.
Placements
As part of this course, students can choose a one-year work placement following the second year, enabling them to apply their knowledge in a real business setting. For 2021/22 students who successfully complete their studies with a year of work placement will receive the award title BA (Hons) Business Studies (with Work Placement). Those who do not will receive a BA (Hons) Business Studies award, or equivalent exit award. For 2022/23 students completing a work placement year, they will receive the award title BA (Hons) Business (with Work Placement). Those who do not will receive a BA (Hons) Business award, or equivalent exit award.
Those students who are unable to undertake or choose not to participate in the work placement year scheme, may have the option to undertake a work-related project such as a piece of consultancy or an enterprise project, to give them experience of solving real industry problems.
Students who require a Tier 4 visa to study will be issued a CAS with a course length that should be sufficient for you to complete the course without the placement year. If you decide to undertake the the course and find a work placement as part of the course this will add additional time to your course and a new Tier 4 visa will be required either before or after the work placement to extend your stay in the UK.

Business Studies graduates may go on to work in e-commerce, financial management, retail management, human resources, and marketing, among other sectors. Lincoln graduates have gone on to work for organisations including IBM, Rolls-Royce, Jaguar Land Rover, Siemens, and Anglian Water.
