Our Health and Social Care FdSc course is aimed at those who are interested in caring for people, and is designed for those with a caring, practical nature, who wish to understand the theoretical basis behind care.

Our FdSc in Health and Social Care course provides you with a unique opportunity to achieve a relevant qualification that matches your personal and professional development needs. The course also aims to support you in developing your own higher level thinking skills such as essay writing, analytical and research skills.

If you wish to enter health or social care provision in an advanced support worker role, Senior Support Worker, Assistant Practitioner or similar roles in health and social care sectors our course may be for you.

A typical offer would be:

• DEE at A Level or MPP at BTEC.
• If you have an Access course qualification you must have a minimum of 15 credits at Merit.

In addition you will be expected to have achieved:

• GCSE English Language (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above.
• You will also need to provide evidence of study in the last five years.

You will need to demonstrate prior interest and engagement with health and social care in either a voluntary, personal or working perspective.

Please note that all offers are subject to:

• successful Occupational Health Screening and,
• a clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) report.

Occupational Health and DBS

Because of the nature of the course, all applicants must have an Occupational Health check and enhanced DBS check before starting the course.

The University of Northampton must ensure that applicants who are offered a place to study on the Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care are suitable to work with vulnerable clients under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
