    It’s about providing experience, opportunities and connections – whether that takes the form of completing a collaborative problem-solving project with industry, or learn using industry-standard equipment.

    This is a two-year foundation degree that begins by giving you a broad knowledge of chemistry, before providing the option to specialise in pharmaceutical chemistry, materials chemistry or environmental chemistry in your second year.

    If your ambitions are to study for a BSc degree, we’ll support you and give you opportunities so you can fast track to year two of our BSc (Hons) Chemistry course at the end of your  first year.

    Our students really enjoy studying Chemistry with us and we were extremely proud to be voted top 20 in the UK for Student Satisfaction in Chemistry (National Student Survey 2020).

    Chemistry graduates have excellent employment prospects and possess a wide range of academic and transferable skills, including IT, communication, presentation skills, time management, and research techniques. These prepare you for careers where problem-solving, wealth creation and improving the quality of life are important.

    Previous graduates have gone on to a variety of careers such as:

    • analytical chemist
    • laboratory technician
    • process analyst
    • technical scientist.

    This course is ideal for students looking to further their study and progress onto the BSc (Hons) Chemistry.

    This course does not include an optional placement year. However, it does include work experience modules and industry-related projects that will give you excellent experience and allow you to apply your skills in a vocational environment.
