MA Social work is an academic qualification and crucially, is also a professional qualification. Our course is accredited by Social Work England which means you’ll be eligible to apply for registration as a social worker on successful completion of the course, explaining why over 95% of our graduates are employed within six months of leaving. Social workers practice in areas including child protection, fostering and adoption, adult safeguarding, mental health, substance use, hospital discharge and disability.

As a result, you will leave us equipped with specialist knowledge and practical skills needed to deal with a broad range of issues such as social exclusion and discrimination, law and social policy, psycho-social development, models and methods of intervention and research methods.

You will gain lots of relevant experience during your placements, operating in real-world settings. What’s more, you can even seize the opportunity to travel and engage in international activities.

After completing this course, you will possess the practical skills and theoretical knowledge for embarking on a career as a social worker in a variety of posts in statutory, voluntary and independent sectors, in the UK and abroad.
