This course will help you to become the kind of sports coach who changes people’s lives – and society as a whole. It will give you the practical, intellectual and personal skills you’ll need to evaluate sport coaching contexts and influence ethical and sustainable coaching practice.

Your six- or 30-week work placement (between your second and final year) will give you practical hands-on experience as well as a fantastic chance to make professional connections. With coaching being such a global industry, you’ll also have the opportunity to study abroad at one of our many partner institutions in Europe and the US.

If the idea of a dissertation at the end of your degree doesn’t appeal, this course is one of very few to offer an alternative – a research expedition where you’ll conduct in-depth research on the needs and responses of people completing a UK-based endurance event.

There are plenty of extra-curricular opportunities too. These include workshops, conferences, industry visits, field trips, volunteering, and guest speakers including people from AFC Bournemouth – with whom we have a partnership that also features exclusive work experience opportunities.

The industries and employment opportunities open to you when you graduate from this course are varied and exciting. You should be able to forge a career that you are truly passionate about and utilise the skills and knowledge you have gained throughout your degree.

The career opportunities are diverse, ranging from working in sports, leisure, education, health and events. When you graduate from this course you will be well-placed to occupy roles in performance sport organisations, sporting national governing bodies, local authorities, schools and colleges, international sports events providers, and sports and leisure centres.
