UK29 BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing Bournemouth University
Accredited by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) against the NMC’s 2018 standards, our course in Adult Nursing expertly blends theory with real-world experience and was developed in conjunction with practice partners, service users and carers and students. The course aim is to give you all the knowledge and skills needed to feel confident working as a nurse and to be eligible to register as an Adult Nurse with the NMC.
As well as acquiring knowledge from highly qualified and experienced lecturers and practitioners, you’ll focus throughout the course developing the core skills required to become a competent registered nurse in a rapidly changing and evolving health care setting. Our interactive learning facilities provide access to a full range of learning materials through our virtual learning environment which complements lectures and seminars as you develop your knowledge in key areas of nursing practice from Pathophysiology and medicines management to nursing assessment, communication skills and interprofessional working. Our simulation suites replicate a range of clinical and community environments and allow you to learn practical techniques in a safe and controlled setting.
For any nursing programme, placements are central to your learning where under the supervision of a practice supervisor (who will be a registered health professional) there is the opportunity to learn from practice and to implement your theoretical learning in practice.
When you finish your course, you'll have the practical skills and knowledge you need to work in various organisations, such as within the NHS, in both hospital and community settings, or in the private/independent healthcare sector, for example in nursing homes or private hospitals.
98% of our students are working or studying 6 months after graduating.
