Harnessing your creative talent, this course will challenge you to produce branded content, viral videos, fictional TV series and social impact films. You will learn about the skills required for navigating the modern media environment, such as digital literacy, social media analytics and creative entrepreneurship.

To ensure your learning keeps up with new developments, we maintain strong links with partners such as Twitter, Microsoft and Karmarama. Each semester, as part of your assessment, you will work from a brief to produce content for one of these media mainstays, and they will aid us in judging student productions and awarding prizes. 

You will also have the opportunity to attend masterclasses with the organisations we work with, and learn how to create a successful brand. 

The course content is divided into three main creative areas. In the first step, Screen Sense, you will look at the relationship between a production and its audience. In the second, Craft Skills, the focus will be on practical and core skills, while the third step looks at production.

You will need to provide some equipment for your studies:

• a camera or smartphone capable of recording 1080p at 25fps
• a laptop computer (PC or Mac) with a spec that allows Adobe Creative Suite to run optimally
• an Adobe Creative Suite licence.

You will also be trained on selected professional-standard equipment from the Production Facilities Centre (hire charges apply).

Once you graduate, you could go on to work as:

• an editorial assistant
• a broadcast engineer
• a broadcast journalist
• a content producer
• a researcher
• a digital editor
• a post-production executive.
