    Our course will help you shape a career path at the forefront of the nursing profession, helping children and their families. The course combines expert teaching, support, and placements at London’s premier hospitals to give you the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in this field.

    As the course has been developed in partnership with NHS Trusts, you’ll spend 50% of your study time on placement in our prestigious partner hospitals, which we’ll help you secure. Our nursing course is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, guaranteeing the highest standard of education.

    Nursing can be a rewarding and flexible career you can shape according to your interests. Once you graduate and become a registered children’s nurse you can choose to specialise, pursuing paths like neonatal intensive care, oncology, and even opting to become a school nurse.

    We have been nominated in five categories at the prestigious Student Nursing Times Awards 2019, in a record year for entries to the competition.

    How you’ll learn to apply your nursing skills

    Our high-tech facilities and simulation suites will help you apply all the theoretical knowledge gained in a practical setting. The suites come equipped with the latest simulators for practise of realistic emergency care situations. A number of life-like mannequins will be on hand alongside all the professional training equipment you’ll need.

    Thanks to our excellent relationships with NHS trusts across London, we can help you secure a placement in several highly sought-after spots. These include Barts Health NHS Trust, Marie Curie Hospice, Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, plus many more.

    Work placements

    We work in partnership with practice placement providers to ensure that the practice learning environment is conducive to meeting the individual learning needs of the student and a robust process of quality monitoring of the learning environment is in place.

    Each practice area has an allocated link lecturer and practice placement information to further support clinical learning. Students are expected to work with their assigned mentor/assessor two to three times per week.

    Nursing is a flexible and varied career that you can shape to suit your ambitions. Once you finish the course and become a registered children's nurse, you can specialise in a particular area of paediatrics, such as neonatal intensive care or paediatric oncology. Or you could opt to become a school nurse, for example.

    There are many well paid nursing roles within both the NHS and private sector. The skills you will formulate in your studies with us may support you to quickly progress up the nursing career ladder. The table below shows a selection of nursing jobs in the NHS and their associated salaries. If you work in the private sector, you may earn even more.

    On successful completion of the programme, students are eligible to enter the professional register for nursing and you will receive career guidance from your Professional Development Tutor.

    Nursing is a profession requiring shift work throughout the 24 hour period. Duty rotas will reflect this and will include early, late, night, weekend and Bank Holiday shift patterns.

    Professional accreditation

    The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) works with partner organisations to set and maintain high standards of nursing and midwifery education across the UK. The NMC sets standards, guidance and requirements for nursing and midwifery programmes of education across the UK.

    Our BSc Nursing (Adult field) course  is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). This means the course is professionally recognised for being of the highest quality, focused on developing the knowledge and skills that employers require.
