NZ03 Bachelor of Commerce (Agriculture) Lincoln University
Lincoln University's Bachelor of Commerce (Agriculture) is a specialised, industry-based degree that will prepares you for leadership in both the farming and agribusiness sectors.
It teaches the bio-economic basis for agriculture through applied academic courses, real-world case studies, field trips and regional study tours. The degree is structured around a number of integrated farm management, plant and livestock production, soil management and agribusiness courses.
You can also choose additional courses of interest to extend your career opportunities.
A period of Practical Work is a requirement of this qualification and full details are available in the handbook.
Summary
At least 30 weeks work must be completed in total.
This could be either:
• 2 farm placements of 15 weeks each, or
• 2 farm placements plus an allied placement of 10 weeks each.
The minimum placement is 10 weeks per workplace. The maximum placement is 15 weeks. Two reports are required.
It is important that students in this programme have the following attributes to ensure successful completion of the Practical Work:
• Competence in driving vehicles (previous tractor or truck driving experience is an advantage)
• Previous farming experience is preferred, though not essential
• Physical ability for working on farms without endangering yourself or others.
GPA of 8.0 or better in the upper secondary education graduation diploma (on completion of year 12) at a school
