The Graduate Diploma in Advanced Nursing Practice allows students to explore the ways in which nurses work and practice within clinical environments. 

Why study this course?

This course focuses on developing advanced nursing practice ability with a focus on patient safety and the provision of quality care. Students will be encouraged to apply this knowledge to their own area of clinical expertise.

Upon completion of this course, students will have the knowledge, skills, and attributes required to develop initiatives in health care and make a substantial contribution to future health care directions.

Completion of the graduate diploma program can be used as credit towards a master's degree in the discipline or a pathway into the Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner).

Financing your studies

• We offer a number of scholarships to postgraduate nursing students. Find out more about the faculty-based opportunities available to you. You may also be eligible for a NSW Health postgraduate scholarship. Valued at up to $8000, these scholarships are available to registered nurses and midwives who are working in full or part-time permanent positions in the NSW public health system. Applications close on 28 February 2020.
  • Commonwealth Supported Places are available in all of our postgraduate nursing courses. This means your place is subsidised by the government and you pay a reduced fee. If your studies are related to your employment, out-of-pocket course fees may also be tax deductible. Find out more at the Australian Taxation Office.
  • You may also be eligible for HECS-HELP. This means your fee payment is deferred through a government loan.

Graduates of this course will be recognised as having advanced knowledge relevant to clinical nursing.

Clinical nurses work in a variety of settings in the acute sector and the community and manage patients with both acute and chronic health concerns.

They may also be involved in education, administration or research.
