Design professionals came together to plan a course that would give you a broad view of the design techniques and practices today, enhance your career and give you a path to further study. The result? A Graduate Diploma that will provide the opportunity for you to: analyse design issues; develop new strategies in your own practice, in any field; apply your understanding of research and theory; and evaluate design from an interdisciplinary perspective. You’ll cross boundaries – drawing on your current expertise as a designer, or knowledge from your own discipline. This Grad Cert is all about thinking about design in new ways, no matter what field you’re in. Working on projects inspired by real briefs, you’ll respond to the client’s needs and consider the outcomes of your various design choices. In collaboration with other students, you’ll explore ways that smart, imaginative design can lead to sustainable options for our world. In this studio-based subject, your team will investigate how different kinds of objects shape our lives today – they might be gadgets, equipment, interfaces or environments. The emphasis is on understanding what should be valued and what can be let go, with the goal of being more sustainable. You’ll extend and deepen your design skills, build your career, and perhaps take the path to further study.
