AU28 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (Anthropology) University of Southern Queensland
Anthropology is the study of people and analyses what it means to be human in a wide range of contexts and places: from the study of material culture to popular culture; public health policies; and the world’s religions. It can be used to address some of society’s most compelling questions on war, gender, discrimination, racism and other equal divisions of power.
The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (Anthropology) goes beyond the traditional idea of studying remote societies and cultures to look at the social and cultural experiences of our own lives. This degree will extend your capacity for specialised study and research at a high academic level. Our acclaimed lecturers have a breadth of knowledge in the field to enrich your learning – our own Professor Bryce Barker can claim to have uncovered the oldest rock art to have been discovered in Australia. You will also have access to our anthropology research laboratory through project work and have opportunities to work as a volunteer assistant.
Anthropology graduates have a diverse range of careers available to them. There are opportunities to become a museum consultant, native title consultant, public servant, social planner, community developer, anthropologist, sociologist and much more.
