    On successful completion of the Bachelor of Arts, graduates will be able to:

    • Demonstrate a broad and coherent body of knowledge with depth in the underlying principles and concepts of at least one discipline of the Arts, Languages or Social Sciences
    • Integrate knowledge of the diversity of cultures and peoples, their differences and commonalities, especially with respect to Indigenous cultures and peoples
    • Appraise the place and role of Australia and Singapore in the Asia-Pacific region and the tropics worldwide
    • Review critically, analyse, consolidate and synthesise information, claims, and evidence
    • Apply critical thinking, independent judgement, intercultural sensitivity, and national, regional and global perspectives, to identify and solve problems in at least one discipline of the Arts, Languages or Social Sciences
    • Present a clear and coherent exposition of knowledge and ideas, through proficiency in written and spoken English language and numeracy, appropriate to their audience and in a range of modes and media
    • Demonstrate capacity for reflection, planning, ethical decision-making and interdisciplinary team work in diverse contexts of community engagement, professional work and/or scholarship
    • Identify and have potential to act and reflect upon opportunities for lifelong learning and career development.

    On successful completion of the Bachelor of Science, graduates will be able to:

    • Integrate and apply a coherent body of theoretical and technical knowledge, including underlying concepts and principles, in one, or more science disciplines
    • Critically appraise the role and relevance of science in society, particularly in creating sustainable futures in the tropics, worldwide
    • Demonstrate broad understanding of the methods of science, including the creative processes involved in developing scientific knowledge, and its contestable and testable nature
    • Retrieve, analyse, synthesise and evaluate information from a range of sources
    • Plan and conduct reliable, evidence-based laboratory and/or field experiments by selecting and applying methods, techniques and tools, as appropriate to one, or more science disciplines
    • Organise, analyse and interpret scientific data using mathematical, statistical and technological skills
    • Convey scientific ideas, arguments and conclusions clearly and coherently through well-developed written and oral communication skills and a variety of media
    • Identify, analyse and generate solutions to unpredictable or complex problems by applying scientific knowledge and skills with initiative and well-developed judgement
    • Critically review regulatory requirements, ethical principles and, where appropriate, cultural frameworks, to work effectively, responsibly and safely in diverse contexts
    • Reflect on current skills, knowledge and attitudes to manage their professional learning needs and performance, autonomously and in collaboration with others.

    Pursue a career that combines your skills in the arts with your passion for science, such as environmental science or technology.

    JCU Arts-Science graduates find employment in roles such as technical writers, communication and media advisers, managers, and consultants across the private sector, government, and research organisations.

    You could undertake additional study to teach in schools. Alternatively go on to postgraduate study or a research degree.

    Depending on your majors, you may be eligible for registration with professional bodies within your chosen fields of study.
