Podiatrists are health professionals who deal with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of medical and surgical conditions of the feet and lower limbs of people of all ages. Your education and training will explore a variety of health science topics such as anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pathology, wound care, podiatric therapeutics and conduct a research study.

You will have at least 1000 hours of hands-on experience treating real patients in our CQUniversity Health Clinics and at various off-campus clinical sites. You will conduct gait and movement analyses in our biomechanical laboratories and you will also have the opportunity to fabricate custom made foot orthotic devices in our fully equipped orthotic laboratories.

You will have the opportunity to work with experienced practitioners to ensure your clinical management is based on sound clinical reasoning and is evidence-based. The course will equip you with extensive theoretical knowledge and clinical experience that will provide you with the necessary advanced skills to commence professional practice as a podiatrist in a variety of clinical settings.

Internships & Placements

Work integrated learning takes place at various external clinical placement sites including hospitals, community based clinics and private podiatry practices. Students will have at least 40 hours of observational clinical sessions conducted at these sites.
