The Graduate Certificate of Design offers students a unique opportunity to develop and build upon their disciplinary design practice. The course is designed for a wide variety of students who have previous qualifications and/or experience in design or related fields. It caters for students who want to enhance their existing capability within a chosen design field such as visual communication design, industrial design, interior architecture or digital media design, as well as provide opportunities to broaden their experience in design practice.

The course emphasises a mix of interdisciplinary collaboration and has a project-based, studio learning environment to develop a range of skills in their chosen field, and expand their knowledge in areas such as inclusive design, new technologies and design management. The course will equip students with professional capabilities and knowledge as future leaders in their field, and the industry-ready skills and strategies that enable them to become accomplished practitioners.

• A recognised bachelor degree in a related discipline or
• a recognised bachelor degree in any discipline PLUS a minimum of 2 years equivalent full-time relevant professional experience* or
• a minimum of three 3 years equivalent full-time relevant professional experience*

*Relevant professional/managerial experience and evidence of academic capability will be determined by the Faculty PVC (or delegate) with reference to Faculty determined guiding principles. Applicants will be required to submit a curriculum vitae (CV) with their application. Documents substantiating relevant experience are required, clearly detailing roles and duration, as well as evidence of formal and non-formal learning. Where relevant experience is used for the basis of admission, no further recognition for prior learning/credit can be granted on that basis.
