The Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology is designed to qualify graduates for employment opportunities at para professional level in a range of engineering, manufacturing and related industries roles.

This course is delivered in a combination of engaging face-to-face classes, workshops, tutorials, lectures and online activities. Students learn advanced technology applications, robotics, mechanics, automation using PLCs and microcontrollers, electronics and instrumentation, fluid power-controlled engineering systems, computer aided design, and advanced manufacturing technologies. Students go beyond the classroom and participate in industry projects and practical workshops.

Swinburne also offers this qualification with specialisation in Civil Engineering Design or in Mechanical Engineering Design.

This course is based at Hawthorn with some workshop components delivered at Wantirna.

Completion of this course can lead to pathway of Bachelor of Engineering (Honour).

Graduates may find employment in manufacturing and assembly plants as a manager or supervisor.  Employment may be sought in a mechatronics and robotics design industry as a mechatronics engineering technician where associate engineer skill is required to provide support to professional engineers. Graduates may also work as technical officer, systems technician, and drafting technician.
