The Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology is designed to qualify graduates for employment opportunities at para professional level in a range of engineering, manufacturing and related industries roles.

This course is delivered in a combination of engaging face-to-face classes, workshops, tutorials, lectures and online activities. Students learn the core concepts of engineering materials, advanced technology applications, mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, computer-aided machine design and project management. Students go beyond the classroom and participate in industry projects and practical workshops.

Swinburne also offers this qualification with specialisation in Civil Engineering Design or in Mechatronics Engineering Design. This course is based at Hawthorn with some workshop components delivered at Wantirna

Completion of this course can lead to pathway of Bachelor of Engineering (Honour).

Graduates may find employment in manufacturing or on an assembly plant as a manager or supervisor. Employment may be sought in a mechanical design industry as a mechanical engineering technician where associate engineer skills are required to provide support to the professional engineer. Graduates may also work as a mechanical maintenance officer or draftsman.
