    The Monash Master of Mathematics is designed for graduates with a bachelor’s degree and a strong foundation in mathematics. A combination of coursework and project work, this program will appeal to students who love mathematics and want to embark on a career in academia.

    It is also suitable for people who seek to develop and deepen their knowledge and skills in mathematics, and develop the capacity to use them to tackle complex problems in a variety of situations.

    The flexible coursework offering ensures students can create a program to suit their interests, from pure mathematics that develops the core theory, to statistics and applied and computational mathematics that extend this theory to bring practical solutions to real-world problems. Graduates of the program possess advanced knowledge and skills that make them employable in industry, or prepare them for doctoral studies.

    Entry level 1 - 2 years

    An undergraduate degree (equivalent to an Australian undergraduate degree) with at least a 65% average or qualification/experience that the faculty considers to be equivalent; and a 65% average over 4 units in mathematics of which at least 2 are at level 2.

    Entry level 2 - 1.5 years

    An undergraduate degree (equivalent to an Australian undergraduate degree) in mathematics with at least a 65% average or qualification/experience or satisfactory substitute that the faculty considers to be equivalent; OR

    An Australian graduate certificate/diploma (or equivalent) with at least a 65% average or qualification/experience that the faculty considers to be equivalent; and a 65% average over 8 units in mathematics.

    Entry level 3 - 1 year

    A four-year Australian honours degree (or equivalent) in mathematics with at least 65% average or qualification/experience or a satisfactory substitute that the faculty considers to be equivalent.
