Environmental security
The challenges of global environmental security are diverse—from energy shortages, loss of biodiversity, extreme temperatures, emerging infectious diseases and food and water insecurity. Society must be equipped to deal with these challenges, with solutions supported by the best scientific evidence.
Globally there is a growing need for professionals with science literacy skills to interpret and translate the evidence about environmental security that is crucial to a wide variety of sectors and stakeholders.
The Environmental Security specialisation will provide you with the knowledge and understanding to guide the sustainable use of resources and protection of the natural environment, and to integrate this into policy and management.
Entry level 1 - 2 years
An Australian undergraduate degree (or equivalent) with at least 60% (credit) average, or qualification/experience or satisfactory substitute that the faculty leading the specialisation considers to be equivalent.
Entry level 2 - 1.5 years
An Australian undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline including business, environmental science, humanities, science or social sciences, with at least 60% (credit) average, or qualification/ experience or satisfactory substitute that the faculty considers to be equivalent; OR
An Australian undergraduate degree (or equivalent) and an Australian graduate certificate/diploma (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline including business, environmental science, humanities, science or social sciences with at least 60% (credit) average in each qualification, or qualification/experience or satisfactory substitute that the faculty considers to be equivalent.
Entry level 3 - 1 year
An Australian undergraduate honours degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline including business, environmental science, humanities, science or social sciences with at least 60% (credit) average, or qualification/ experience or satisfactory substitute that the faculty considers to be equivalent.
