The Philosophy part of your degree will provide you with a grounding in key questions about theories around the nature of knowledge (epistemology), ethics, and the nature of the world, and enable you to explore a range of contemporary and historical philosophical works. Within Education, you will study a range of topics such as race and politics in education, poverty, digital technologies and comparative perspectives on education from the past. As a result of your study, you will enhance your logical and critical thinking skills, developing the use of sound arguments while detecting fallacies and other argumentative weaknesses. 

The course provides a solid grounding in understanding the way people think and approach problems. You will possess highly developed skills in critical thinking and develop multiple approaches to problem solving, both of which are highly prized by employers. You will learn how to communicate your ideas in a variety of ways, including presentations, written work, portfolios and dialogue. You could pursue a range of careers, or continue to further study. You might pursue a career in education, the law, finance, government, publishing, the media or the arts. If you are thinking of travelling or working abroad after graduation, you may wish to learn a foreign language and gain an enhanced degree title, such as 'BA (Hons) Education and Philosophy with Competency in French' or opt for a year abroad to enhance your CV.
