Studying Music at Sussex, you’ll interrogate cultural hierarchies in music by experimenting with different musical styles. You’ll question the supposed ‘elitism’ of classical music, gender in music or the role of music in contemporary society.
You’ll benefit from the expertise of our faculty who are leading the latest developments in music culture. This includes writing opera for robots, looking at music’s role in natural ecosystems and redefining histories of popular music.
