Are you interested in crime and the criminal justice system? Throughout the course, you will build a thorough understanding of the law as it applies to crime and the criminal justice system in England and Wales, providing you with a comprehensive understanding of essential aspects of criminology, including:

• knowledge of crime
• explanations for why people break the law
• the workings of the criminal justice and penal systems in the UK and abroad
• the foundations of criminal law
• ethics in criminal justice
• policing.

At the end of your Criminology, Policing and Criminal Law BA you will take your dissertation module, giving you the opportunity to use your research and analytical skills to produce work that reflects your interests and demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the subject.

In the final stages of your course, you will also be able to choose modules that let you explore particular topics in more depth. In addition to your academic studies, you will have one module dedicated to voluntary work in criminal justice or a related field. Past students have gained their work experience within relevant roles, such as:

• various policing support roles, including as a special constable.
