You will study the international market, learning the latest practices and studying the latest trends. You’ll discover how to combine theory and practice, how to draw on different data sets and databases, and how to analyse and compare data in order to make effective financial decisions. You’ll explore the challenges facing corporations today, analysing solutions and proposing answers of your own. And you’ll learn how to make the best use of new technologies.

Increasingly employers are looking for candidates with environmental and social responsibility expertise. On this course you will learn to ask questions such as, How can corporations contribute to the youth of a country? And how can companies grow without sacrificing the environment? You’ll explore the impact of social and environmental issues on the future of corporations. You’ll learn how to look beyond profit as a key motivator in business. And you’ll cultivate the skills required to work with corporations that care about social and environmental concerns.

Throughout the course you’ll approach your subject from an international perspective, studying modules such as International Corporate Governance and Advanced Financial and Investment Management. This international focus means you can take insights from one region and apply them to another. For example you could take insights gained by studying a British case study and consider what might happen if they were applied to a Chinese business and vice versa. You’ll also learn first-hand how to thrive in an international environment, by working alongside students from all over the world, including the EU, Asia, Africa and America.

As you progress you will be encouraged to change the way you think and the way you approach problems. You’ll discover how to look at issues from different points of view. And you’ll graduate as an independent thinker able to come up with your own ideas and to debate and defend them.

You will graduate ready to launch a highly successful career in investment and finance, in the UK and beyond.

You could go on to work for investment and commercial banks, insurance companies, hedge, mutual or pension funds, brokers, rating agencies, venture capitalists and regulatory bodies. You might work as a financial manager, treasurer, capital budget analyst, credit manager or investor relations specialist. Or you might go on to work as a data analyst, advisor or systems developer at a consultancy firm.

You might go straight into a junior or senior role, either way this course is a common path to senior positions such as head of department roles. The international outlook of the course means you’ll be well placed to go on to an international career, working for international companies and multinational corporations.

There is a strong focus on preparing you for your future career throughout the course. You’ll learn theories and practices demanded by the most prestigious employers. You’ll also discover essential skills such as CV writing and solo and group interview techniques. And you’ll be able to take part in our annual Employability Week.
