    Work-ready graduates

With a broad range of flexible and dynamic career options, science graduates are in high demand across many industries.

A Bachelor of Science opens up a world of opportunity. Whether you dream of joining the forefront of research, learning how to analyse and think critically or making the planet a better place, a Bachelor of Science will give you highly sought-after skills for a huge range of careers.

At Sydney you will be taught by dedicated scientific thinkers, including members of the Australian Academy of Science, Australian Research Council Fellows and prestigious prize winners. You will study in world-class facilities, including the multimillion-dollar Sydney Nanoscience Hub and the Charles Perkins Centre, with its focus on diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease.

    Specialization:

    • Animal Production: Contemporary animal production aims to yield high quality products in ways that are efficient, sustainable and humane. As a student in the Agroecosystems program, you will learn how environment affects livestock productivity, how physiology affects production and reproduction and how to improve animal performance through the application of underpinning animal sciences.
    • Plant Production: Increasing the sustainable production of plant food and fibre products over the next 50 years is one of the great global challenges facing the planet. The plant production system encompasses the basic genetic and physiological regulations on plant growth, the impact on growth of soil, water, nutrients, disease and pests and the influence of management processes. Achieving increased sustainable plant productivity will be dependent on implementing innovations across all aspects of the production system while more efficiently using resources and reducing negative impacts on the environment. This program provides training in plant biology, soil science, plant protection, sustainable crop management, automation and precision agriculture that will enable you to contribute to this globally important transformation.
    • Soil Science and Hydrology: The Soil Science and Hydrology program will provide you with training in three key areas; soil, water and climate, and their links with functional, resilient and productive ecosystems. You will develop generic skills in geographic information systems (GIS), laboratory and data analysis that will enable you to find work in a wide range of occupations in public and private enterprises, working in basic and applied research in land and soil management.
