In this course you will learn the skills of research, production and publishing of journalism for contemporary media formats and acquire crucial knowledge in media law and ethics.

You’ll have opportunities to publish and/or broadcast your journalism through Curtin Journalism’s news website Western Independent, and build a portfolio of your work.

Upon successful completion of the graduate certificate or graduate diploma, you have the option to transfer to the Master of Journalism.

How this course will make you industry ready

You will learn how to produce audio, video and online journalism in news and long-form styles. You will develop audio and video presentation skills and have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced daily news environment.
