The Master of Applied Econometrics is designed to strengthen and extend knowledge in the area of econometrics of students with significant economic backgrounds gained from undergraduate study. Students or working professionals seeking to strengthen their quantitative skills and to specialise in econometrics will develop a high level of proficiency in econometrics.
Obtaining a higher qualification in economics with a special focus on econometrics is a career investment. Advanced quantitative skills, analytical ability, critical thinking and logic are highly valued commodities, and graduates of this program will have the ability to succeed in a dynamic and an increasingly competitive environment. Courses develop knowledge in core quantitative skills and econometric methods used in diverse areas in economics and finance including; macroeconomics; quantitative finance; environmental and natural resource management; health; public sector management; business and economic modelling.
An approved Bachelor degree with a GPA of at least 4.50 on a 7 point scale. An approved degree is a Bachelor degree in the discipline of economics, business or commerce; or a Bachelor degree containing at least four courses in any three of the following areas: microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics and mathematics; or the graduate certificate in economics from this university with a GPA of 4.5.
