Bahasa Indonesia is the official language of Indonesia, the fourth most populous and largest Muslim majority country in the world. In the Federal Government's 2012 White Paper on "Australia in the Asian Century", Indonesian was also identified as one of the crucial language skills needed for future Australian growth, prosperity and regional development. The Indonesian major covers Indonesian history, politics, culture and society. Language courses are available for beginning, intermediate and advanced students.
Graduates are typically interested in pursuing careers with international agencies, government or nonprofit organisations, such as UNESCO, UNICEF or the World Health Organization.
