In almost every culture, people have wrestled with questions about human existence through religious ideas. People today still look to religion for answers to questions about meaning, ethics and bigger life-questions. Studies in Religion is about reflecting on and understanding religious traditions, questions and values, and the Studies in Religion major offers a critical, multi-disciplinary approach to a range of faiths and spiritual experiences. Compulsory and elective courses cover major faiths like Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam and Christianity, and use ideas from historians, philosophers, psychologists, sociologists and linguists. UQ has the largest religious studies department in Australia.
