AU26 Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Agronomy) University of Queensland
Agronomy is the study of how the environment and agricultural practices can be managed to control the whole plant growth and crop production cycle. As an agronomist you will utilise a number of scientific disciplines to enhance the production of food, create healthier food, investigate plants as a future energy source and manage the environmental impacts of agriculture. You will combine the study of biological, chemical, ecological and earth sciences or genetics to examine variables such as crop rotation, irrigation and drainage, plant breeding, plant physiology, soil classification and fertility and the control of weeds, insects and other pests to manage the whole plant and crop production cycle.
The agriculture sector contributes billions of dollars annually to the Australian and international economies.
