You will gain professional experience by completing a minimum of 60 days of teaching practice throughout the course in urban, rural, remote or international settings and schools. This includes the opportunity to gain teaching experience in locations such as China, Cook Islands, India, Italy, Malaysia and South Africa.

Primary and secondary education (accelerated)

Your qualification will be a Master of Teaching in Primary and Secondary Education

If you want a rewarding career that influences and shapes lives, but are open minded about the age group and education sector you teach in, then this specialisation is for you. You will be qualified to teach children and adolescents aged five to 18 years in primary and secondary schools from Foundation to Year 12.

You will build on the content knowledge developed in your undergraduate degree and qualify to teach adolescents in one secondary subject area.

This course is accredited by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) using the national accreditation standards

• An Australian undergraduate degree (or equivalent) with at least a pass (50%) average.
• CASPer
• Applicants will be required to undergo a Working With Children Check before being able to carry out professional experience placements
• Applicants must also have appropriate discipline studies to qualify for one teaching specialist area at secondary level

Admission into the course is competitive and may require a higher overall average than the minimum requirement.
