Health law and community

Become an expert in the laws regulating the health and community sectors

The Health and Community Law specialisation equips you with a theoretical and practical grounding in the laws regulating the health and community sectors. It gives you the opportunity to expand your expertise in this important area of the law by pursuing emerging areas of study or explore existing knowledge at a deeper level.

Suitable for: Graduates from non-law disciplines in occupations as health professionals, health administrators, government officers, health advocates and others who want a deeper understanding of the laws that impact on the health and community sectors. It also suits law graduates practising in the fields of health and family law.

A Bachelor Honours degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline as determined by the faculty, with a minimum credit average.

OR

A Bachelor degree (or equivalent) plus either a graduate diploma (or equivalent) in Law or a cognate discipline or a graduate certificate (or equivalent) in Law or a cognate discipline.

OR

A Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline, plus sufficient relevant work-based experience or professional learning to provide the equivalent of a bachelor honours degree on one of those disciplines, as determined by the faculty.

Applicants will be assessed on their entire academic record, with a credit average (or equivalent) preferred. As a general rule, students who do not have a credit average or are relying on relevant work experience to satisfy entry requirements will need to have worked for at least two years, although the required period may be shorter where the work experience has been supplemented by other relevant learning.
