    If you are a health practitioner, engineer, IT professional, or scientist, the Graduate Diploma in Health Technology Innovation will equip you with the skills to deliver improved health outcomes for patients through the innovative use of health technologies.

    This course, designed in conjunction with industry, will extend and update your knowledge in the growing area of health technology. It will involve working with a multidisciplinary group of professionals and clinicians to develop creative technology-based solutions to real healthcare issues. This graduate diploma will allow you to take advantage of exciting emerging opportunities in health technology and deliver meaningful improvements in healthcare delivery. You can take this course full time over one-and-a-half years or part time over three years. To accommodate your professional commitments, the Graduate Diploma in Health Technology Innovation offers flexible study options. You can complete various units of study in block/intensive mode, during the evening, online or through a combination of options. We offer some subjects as short courses throughout the year. Coursework you undertake in the Graduate Diploma in Health Technology Innovation can reduce the requirements for the Master of Health Technology Innovation.


    Graduates of the Graduate Diploma in Health Technology Innovation will be IT specialists within the Health and Medical fields who possess an excellent combination of knowledge and practical, hands-on expertise to influence and reinforce health-related organisation's technology infrastructure and to support the people who use it. They will often be responsible for selecting and deploying software products appropriate for medical and health-related organisations. They may also be involved in creating and managing business applications, web sites, systems and the IT environment in the medical and allied health fields.


    To be eligible for admission, an applicant is required to have:

    • an Australian bachelor’s degree with a credit average (65 percent) in a quantitative* discipline or equivalent qualification or
    • an Australian bachelor's degree  with a credit (65 percent) average or equivalent qualification.

    Where an applicant does not have a credit average, relevant work experience and achievement in  health technology may be considered. 

    For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and entry requirements are determined based on the country, institution and qualification.
