The Graduate Certificate of Finance and Actuarial Statistics is designed for students who wish to:

• Develop a greater understanding of financial, actuarial and statistical principles and their application;
• Gain Part II exemption status for the Institute of Actuaries;
• Improve analytical skills for interpreting and analysing financial, actuarial and statistical information;
• Gain greater insight into the Australian and international financial markets;
• Increase management skills for dealing with organisations, teams and policy issues; and,
• Expand their applied knowledge in various specialised areas of finance, actuarial studies and applied statistics.

Students who achieve a GPA of 4.5 for the Graduate Certificate of Finance and Actuarial Statistics with an appropriate specialization may transfer to one of the RSFAS Masters Programs (Master of Applied Finance, Master of Finance, Master of Actuarial Studies, Master of Actuarial Practice, Master of Statistics.

Learning Outcomes

1. Recognise the important role of finance, actuarial and statistical principles and their application;
2. Demonstrate the necessary analytical skills for interpreting and analyzing financial, actuarial and statistical information;
3. Demonstrate well developed insight into Australian and international financial markets;
4. Justify and communicate the necessary management skills for dealing with organizations, teams and policy issues, so as to be able to work independently and collaboratively to collect, process, interpret and communicate the outcomes of financial, actuarial and statistical problems; and,
5. Demonstrate the skills necessary to critically engage with and evaluate financial, actuarial and statistical problems.

At a minimum, all applicants must meet program-specific academic/non-academic requirements, and English language requirements. Admission to most ANU programs is on a competitive basis. Therefore, meeting all admission requirements does not automatically guarantee entry.

Applicants must present a Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 4.5/7.0.

• TOEFL: Paper-based score: 570 (min. 4.5 in TWE). Internet-based score: 80 (min. 20 reading and writing, 18 in speaking and listening
• IELTS Academic:  6.5 overall (min. 6.0 in each subtest)
• PTE Academic: 64 overall (min. 55 in each of the communicative skills)

• Cambridge CAE: 176 overall (min.169 in each subtest)
